The First Edition of the Mediterranean Awards

In Spain, Andalusia is a historic and internationally recognised region, not only in the Mediterranean but also in the rest of the world. It is also an area of coexistence and respect for the different cultures that have lived there throughout history.
Based on this heritage, the Andalusian Regional Government, through the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation, is honoured to present the 1st Edition of the Mediterranean Awards, under the auspices of the Intermediterranean Commission of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions.
OBJECT
In order to achieve this purpose, these Mediterranean Awards are created as a tool to make visible the best practices in the Mediterranean in the fields included in the European and Mediterranean agenda.
The aim of these Awards, which are now born with a marked character of lasting over time, is to recognise the work of individuals and/or institutions, companies and other organisations that have contributed to boosting the Mediterranean identity, promoting sustainable and integrated development on all its shores, fostering peace, intercultural and interreligious dialogue in the Mediterranean basin, focusing on the elements that are common to us in order to overcome what separates us.
AIMED AT
Individuals and/or institutions, companies and other organisations awarded prizes must belong to one of the following countries bordering the Mediterranean: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. 2 In addition, Jordan and Mauritania are included as members of ARLEM (Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly) and Portugal.
OFFERED
Candidates may apply or be nominated by a third party in one or both of the two existing categories. Nominations or proposals may be submitted by national, regional or local governments; academic or cultural institutions; jury members; companies and other organisations or individuals, from anywhere in the world. Nominations from the jury members themselves are not eligible.
