The Open Innovation Challenge 2026 is an international initiative focused on building interoperable digital health solutions based on openEHR, aimed at improving real-world clinical practice through applied innovation.
The challenge promotes co-creation with healthcare professionals, ensuring that developed solutions respond to real clinical needs and can be implemented in hospital environments.

PROJECT FOCUS
The initiative is led by Personalized Health Basel and the University Hospital Basel, and is grounded in real clinical use cases defined by healthcare professionals.
It focuses on three key areas:
- Hospital at Home: remote hospital-level care and monitoring
- SOP & Clinical Decision Support: real-time clinical decision support
- Molecular Tumour Board: integration of molecular oncology data

Selection phase
- Virtual pitch day: 24 June 2026
- Up to 5 selected teams

- Development with clinical support at University Hospital Basel
- Access to data environment and mentorship

- MVP presentations
- CHF 10,000 award for the winning project
